Week1A: My Blog Theme

Hi! Welcome to my CSIT class blog.


This isn’t the first blog I’ve created using Blogger. I have tried to start a blog a few times, but I can never stick with it. Hopefully, I’ll gain a new appreciation for blogging and keep up with maintaining one for business use.


I had a difficult time choosing a blog theme because there were a few that I liked. I finally settled on the Contempo Aqua theme because the picture of the beautiful beach as the background image made me feel calm and serene, and teal is one of my favorite colors. I almost went with the Simple Pink theme because it felt clean and unobtrusive. The cursive font was also a nice touch but I would have changed the accent color to purple because that seems to be the color I am drawn to right now.


At some point during this semester, I will most likely change the theme. Probably more than once. With so many to choose from, I figure, why not play around with the look and feel? So stay tuned.

    It's nice that we can change the theme so easily if decide we're over the current one. I'm a big fan of the teal though.

    I love the beach theme! My favorite color happens to be pretty close to the main color of your theme. The picture you chose also makes me feel calm, and reminds me of Hawaii.

    Hey Kristin, the beach them really caught my attention. It also made me have a calm feeling! Portrays a bright feeling when first looking at your page!

Week 8 Part A: How to Expand Your Reach on Instagram by Using Hashtags

I’ve reviewed three accounts and found that the use of hashtags is different among all of them.  My Healing Spa uses quite a few hashtags that are pretty much similar in each post. Except what ever muscle or part of the body the post is referencing. Their posts are mainly showing different massage techniques, but they seem pretty generic. That could be why there is not very much engagement. My Healing Spa:  https://www.instagram.com/myhealingspa/ This account has about 14K followers. They post to Instagram about every day and get a few hundred likes per post and not very many comments. This seems disproportionate to the amount of followers they have. Hands with Grace also uses a lot of hashtags in their posts but they are more tailored to the post. They start global then niche down. Week 6 Part B: Creating and Scheduling FaceBook Posts

 I have created and scheduled three posts for Facebook and Instagram. They are all image posts. Scheduled Facebook Posts This first post is a fun image meant for other massage therapists. We all watch our clients struggle to keep their arms on the table, and I found a tool that would be very useful to other therapists if they needed it. Sharing that info will bring comradery to the page. The second post will post at 6AM Monday morning. It is an inspirational quote meant to foster joy for the present moment. I post inspirational quotes from time to time, and they always do well on Instagram. I haven't focused much on my Facebook page, so hopefully this will start to draw more following.  The third post is a post referencing the Memorial Day holiday. I am contracted with the VA as a Community Care Network Provider for massage therapy.
