Week 8 Part A: How to Expand Your Reach on Instagram by Using Hashtags

I’ve reviewed three accounts and found that the use of hashtags is different among all of them. 

My Healing Spa uses quite a few hashtags that are pretty much similar in each post. Except what ever muscle or part of the body the post is referencing. Their posts are mainly showing different massage techniques, but they seem pretty generic. That could be why there is not very much engagement.

This account has about 14K followers. They post to Instagram about every day and get a few hundred likes per post and not very many comments. This seems disproportionate to the amount of followers they have.

Hands with Grace also uses a lot of hashtags in their posts but they are more tailored to the post. They start global then niche down. This account has an organic following and it shows in the engagement.

This account has 332K followers. They post to Instagram about 3 times a week and they get thousands of likes and a few hundred comments. This seems like a good proportion of their followers actually engage with their content. 

Salud con Yahrlen keeps their hashtag usage to under 5 and they are pretty similarly posted. I think they could use a few more hashtags and get a little more niched down. Although with that said, this is a small solo massage business and they following and engagement they have garnered is quite good.

This account has 1200 followers. They post a couple times a week and get an average of 50 likes per post and about 10 comments. This seems like a good proportion of their followers engage with their content. 

Consistency is key! Posting often and using a few of the same hashtags will be very beneficial and then adding in some hashtags that describe the feeling you are trying to emote from the post would work well.  These are the hashtags I’m going to make sure to use: #massage #massagetherapy #massagetherapist #phoenixrisingholistictherapies #sandiego #murrieta
