Week 1B: Social Media Use Today

Overall, social media is a useful tool that can be used personally and professionally. Personally, it can be used to keep up with family & friends, hear bite-sized snippets about current events, get up to date with the latest celebrity dramas, and my personal favorite, is sending funny reels to my best friends in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. Professionally, social media can be used to curate a feed that potential employers might like to see in a new employee or consultant, to promote your business, and to update your clients on new products or policies.

Most social media platforms can be used for personal and business use, except for LinkedIn. That platform allows you to make connections with other professionals, find jobs, and create credibility with online marketing. I haven't seen anyone use it in a personal manner. Other platforms that can be used for personal and professional use are Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. These sites also have separate account setups for business and personal accounts.

Currently, in my personal life, I use social media to send late-night reels to my friends and post things I find funny to my Instagram and Facebook stories.  Professionally, I have not kept up with my social media accounts. The last post I made to my business was to wish everyone a happy 2024. I'd like to begin using my business accounts to build community and give updates to my clients, as well as, promote any new services or enhancements.

  1. Hey Kristin! Late night reels are always the funniest. Social is preventing me forgoing to sleep at a decent hour! But I can't give it up, I love it so much. I think since I'm young, I am almost forced to love social media. It's the only way I can connect with friends.
