Week 4 Part B: Defining YOUR Target Market

Phoenix Rising Holistic Therapies LLC is a small massage therapy and wellness studio. As the owner and solo massage therapist, I specialize in deep tissue massage, myofascial release techniques and structural integration. I also partner with the VA as part of the community care network, providing massage therapy to veterans that suffer from either chronic or acute pain and are seeking alternative healing techniques.  My ideal client is suffering from chronic or acute pain and is looking to be an active participant in their recovery. This client believes in holistic healing and understands that their wellness is not just about the physical pain they are in, but considers the whole person: physical, mental, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual dimensions of wellness.  While gender does not matter, my clientele is skewed more towards women, as men are not as likely to get a massage. Most men that come in, do so because some woman in their life booked it for them, ...

CSIT 155 Week 4 Part A: Defining Target Markets

Green Thumb Nursery and Tree of Life Nursery both cater to plant enthusiasts, but they target different segments of the market, reflecting their unique offerings and brand identities. Tree of Life Nursery, has a single-location and focuses on promoting California native plants. Its target market comprises environmentally conscious large projects that want to include the beauty and sustainability of local flora. They’ve recently started to branch out to individuals and smaller projects.   Tree of Life Nursery's website exudes a tranquil vibe, with earthy color schemes and imagery showcasing California's natural landscapes. The logo incorporates organic elements, reflecting the nursery's commitment to sustainability. Calls to action emphasize eco-friendly gardening practices and native plant benefits, resonating with the target audience's values. In contrast, Green Thumb Nursery operates as a chain with multiple locations, offering a wide range of services aimed at the pu...

Week 3 Part B: Developing a Brand

My business name is based on the phoenix, a mythical bird, that is said to have lived thousands of years ago. The gist of the phoenix’s story is that they lived for about 500 years and then built their own pyre and burned themselves to death, and from those ashes a new bird was born with the wisdom of all the phoenixes before it. The story is one of renewal, rebirth, and resurrection. As a holistic health practitioner, I believe in the power of renewal. Not to mention I am an astrology enthusiast, and the phoenix is one of my symbols as a Scorpio, which is also about life, death, and rebirth. So, there is personal meaning to me.   My sister is a graphic designer and created my logo. There is a picture of a phoenix and my business name, Phoenix Rising Holistic Therapies. The colors in the logo are red, pink, orange, gold, black, and white. I’ve tried to stick to the colors she used in the logo for any other media output. I always add the logo to videos and images.   O...

Week 3 Part A: Aesthetics, Design, and Branding

Websites that could be done better: 1. https://best-electronics-ca.com/ One-page design. Weird menu links. Font size is too large. Insufficient white space. Aesthetically unpleasing; could be associated with potential malware. 2. https://gatesnfences.com/ Too much going on. Small print at the top is not legible. Too many links on the left side. Appreciation for pictures of their work. Websites that have passed the test: 1. https://artcenter.org/ Good layout. Cohesive design with a theme. Graphic-heavy (appropriate for an art center). Some performance issues on an older laptop. 2 . https://www.headhunterhairstyling.com/ Clean and easy-to-read design. Well-defined theme. Subdued and appropriate colors. Example of a well-thought-out and executed website. I've reviewed the four websites above using the C.R.A.P.H.T.E.D. method. What I realize is that I make split decisions on whether a website is credible based on how it looks. The two sites that could have been done better are a gr...
